Head of Risk [Credit Risk] - Senior Position

We are recruiting a Head of Risk for a large Financial Services organisation.

This new position is a Senior hire, and the appointee will lead the Risk Function and provide independent oversight in respect of all aspects of risk management. The Head of Risk will be a key member of the Senior Management Team

Role/Duties

•              Lead / maintain an effective risk management regime and promote appropriate risk culture

•              Recommend, implement, and maintain the Risk Management Policy and Framework, Risk Appetite Statement and associated risk management policies in line with strategic objectives

•              Lead 2nd line independent oversight and challenge to decisions that affect the organisation’s exposure to risk, including credit risk, operational risk, financial risk and reputational risk.

•              Lead the independent review and challenge credit applications, and preparation of credit risk assessments for lending and guarantee proposals; participate as a member of the Credit Committee.

•              Provide comprehensive and clear risk reporting and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

•              Maintain vigilance for any adverse developments that may not be consistent with the risk appetite, tolerance and business strategy.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

•              Relevant Degree/Masters qualification required.

•              Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a relevant role in credit risk, financial risk or enterprise risk management.

•              Excellent understanding and experience of risk, finance, audit or other relevant discipline

•              Business acumen and financial expertise essential.

•              Demonstrable management experience.

•              Ability to command credibility and build trust at all levels both internally and externally.

•              Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

•              Ability to lead and develop a team with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.
