Senior Cost Manager | Houston, Texas

A major international cost and project management consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager for its Houston team.

The position offers the opportunity to lead cost management assignments, build client relationships, and support junior colleagues' development. It suits an owner-side consultancy-trained professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and gain more experience in the US market.

The role
You’ll provide commercial guidance throughout each project, from initial feasibility and budget development through procurement, construction and final settlement. Working alongside clients, consultants and contractors, you’ll help identify risks, evaluate options and maintain control of project expenditure.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing estimates, cost plans and project budgets
• Advising on procurement strategies and evaluating tender submissions
• Tracking expenditure and preparing clear cost reports
• Assessing variations and managing change control
• Providing commercial advice during design and construction
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
• Coordinating several assignments and maintaining strong client relationships
• Supporting and mentoring junior cost management staff

Your experience
You’ll bring a solid background in cost consultancy, with experience delivering both pre and post-contract services. You should be comfortable taking ownership of your work, presenting advice to clients and managing competing deadlines.

We’re looking for:
• Proven experience as a Senior Cost Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Strong estimating, procurement and commercial management skills
• Experience supporting projects from early planning through completion
• Clear communication and confident client-facing ability
• A thorough, organised approach to reporting and cost control
• Experience guiding less experienced colleagues
• A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related subject preferred
