The Opportunity
Cruise Gray Associates is recruiting on behalf of a leading international construction consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join its growing New York team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of high-profile projects across the commercial, residential, hospitality and workplace sectors while joining an established consultancy offering genuine opportunities for further career progression. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial and cost management delivery of projects from inception through to completion, working directly with clients and leading project teams. This position would particularly suit an experienced cost professional capable of independently managing projects, developing strong client relationships and supporting the development of junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead cost management services across multiple projects
• Manage projects from early feasibility and cost planning through construction and final account
• Prepare and review estimates, budgets and detailed cost plans
• Lead procurement, tendering and bid evaluation processes
• Manage project budgets, forecasting and financial reporting
• Lead change control and advise clients on commercial and cost implications
• Prepare and present detailed cost reports and recommendations
• Provide commercial and contractual advice throughout project delivery
• Lead client and project meetings
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, architects and consultants
• Mentor and support junior cost management professionals
• Maintain consistently high standards of technical and commercial delivery
About You
You will be an experienced cost management professional with the technical knowledge and commercial awareness to independently lead projects and advise clients with confidence. You should combine strong project delivery skills with excellent communication and the ability to establish trusted relationships with clients and senior project stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have:
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
• Approximately 5+ years of relevant cost management experience
• Strong pre-contract and post-contract experience
• Experience independently managing complex construction projects
• Excellent knowledge of estimating, cost planning, procurement and change control
• Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of market rates and cost economics
• Experience mentoring and developing junior team members
• Excellent client-facing, communication and presentation skills
• RICS accreditation is preferred but not essential for the right candidate
Salary & Benefits
$125,000 – $160,000 depending on experience, together with a comprehensive benefits package including:
