Marine Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineer for our client in Peterhead to join their growing team on a full time permanent basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in marine engineering principles and practices.

Applicants with a mechanical engineering background may be considered depending on experience.

Please note applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK and stay within daily commute distance to Peterhead.

Duties:

• Main engine overhauls & fault finding for Cummins, Volvo, Scania etc.
• Marine gearbox overhauls & fault finding for Heimdal, Reintjes, Scana Volda, Twin Disc, Hundested etc.
• Marine pipework & bilge systems knowledge & pump overhauls for Desmi, Jabsco, Johnson, Azcue etc
• Tail shaft / Rudder overhauls & experience for sealing arrangements such as deep sea seal types.
• Engine / Gearbox removal & re-installation works & Alignment experience preferred. MCA / Lloyds repair work & valve overhauls.
• Various other marine ancillary repairs & all primarily for the marine industry & including ferry vessels, tug vessels & wind farm vessels.
• Working to classification dry dock specifications & requirements.

Essential skills and experience:.

• Time served in Marine engineering is desired but not essential
• Strong mechanical knowledge with proven experience
• Ability to analyse complex problems using root cause analysis techniques.
• Understanding of logic controllers and their application in marine systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
