In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards, conducting inspections on a variety of construction projects, and providing expert advice to clients and contractors. You will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and quality in the built environment while working closely with local authorities and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial buildings at various stages of construction.
- Review building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide clear and concise reports on inspection findings, including recommendations for improvements or corrections.
- Liaise with architects, builders, and clients to address any compliance issues and provide guidance on best practices.
- Stay updated on changes to building regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for junior inspectors and staff.
Requirements:
- Valid registration as a Building Inspector with relevant professional qualifications.
- Proven experience in building inspection, preferably within a local authority or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction methods, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with 2D building inspection software and technology.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency standards.
- Membership in a relevant professional body, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
