Location: South-West
Salary: Up to £50,000
Flexible / Hybrid Working

A commitment to sustainable design and a genuine career development opportunity for an ambitious structural engineer like you.

About Us

We are a design-focused, architect-led practice based in Swindon, working on a wide range of domestic and small residential projects — including bespoke extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments, and one-off new homes.

Our approach values creativity, collaboration, and buildable design solutions. We’re looking for a Structural Engineer who shares our commitment to quality design and enjoys working closely with architects and clients to bring ideas to life.

We're based at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon, but you can work regularly if not predominantly from anywhere in the South-West, be that Bristol, Bath, Oxford, Reading - anywhere within a reasonable and infrequent commute.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in the development of the practice, providing structural input from concept through to completion. The position suits someone with a solid foundation in building structures who enjoys problem-solving, client interaction, and seeing projects through on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce structural calculations, drawings, and technical reports for domestic projects.
  • Work collaboratively with architects, clients, and contractors to develop practical and elegant design solutions.
  • Carry out site visits and inspections of existing structures and ongoing works.
  • Ensure all designs meet current Building Regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Manage multiple small projects with autonomy and attention to detail.

About You

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in building structures (domestic/residential preferred).
  • Proficient in the design of steel, timber, masonry, and concrete structures.
  • Experience using design software such as Tedds, Tekla, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, design-minded approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport for local site visits.

What We Offer

  • Flexible hours and hybrid working options.
  • Support for ongoing professional development and chartership.
  • Opportunity to work within a creative, design-led environment.
  • Friendly, collaborative studio culture with real project ownership.
