Location: Shirley, Solihull B90 – office based with flexibility for 1 day per week home working
Salary: Up to £50,000
Hours: Monday to Friday 9 - 5pm

  • We are working on behalf of our award-winning client, a successful and rapidly growing business, who is seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Team Leader / Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a commercially focused and hands-on role with responsibility for leading the day-to-day Finance function, producing management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and providing clear financial insight to support and enhance company performance. You will also have responsibility for leading, managing and developing a small team of 2.

The ideal candidate would be qualified or nearly qualified completing their last year ACCA or CIMA – with a view for this being a next step in their career.

Role and Responsibilities
  • As a Finance Team Leader / Finance Manager, you will be responsible to lead and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Finance department, ensuring accurate, timely and effective financial processes.
  • Take ownership of the monthly management accounts pack, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and cash flow analysis, with full reconciliations and timely production of the monthly reporting pack.
  • Provide clear financial insight to the business, ensuring a strong understanding of performance drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activity to support effective business planning and decision-making.
  • Deliver complete and accurate financial information in line with agreed reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee daily bank processing and reconciliations, including the accurate reconciliation and management of the invoice discounting facility.
  • Oversee weekly and monthly sales invoicing using Sage 50 and the Timegate rostering management system.
  • Oversee purchase ledger processing and credit control activity.
  • Oversee monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Drive effective cash-flow management to maximise available cash.
  • Undertake contract analysis and KPI reporting as required.
  • Support the Finance Director with the production of annual financial statements.
  • Provide and coordinate information required by external auditors.
  • Maintain and continually improve robust financial controls, processes and procedures.
  • Lead, manage, support and mentor junior members of the Finance team, encouraging their ongoing development.
  • Support the senior leadership team with financial information, analysis and other financial tasks to improve business performance.
  • Lead and contribute to Business Improvement Plans, continuous improvement initiatives and new projects.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Qualified or nearly qualified Accountant – ACCA or CIMA
  • Proven experience working as a Finance Team Leader or Finance Manager within a busy, growing or fast-paced business.
  • Experience of invoice discounting is essential.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using Sage Line 50.
  • Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing and maintaining effective financial controls.
  • Strong analytical skills with a commercially focused and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate financial information.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships and communicate financial information at all levels of the business.
