Our client who is based in Highbridge have an opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

Job Specification

·         To negotiate all product and material purchase prices, rebate schemes,  payment terms,  delivery terms, and supply/service contracts, and to manage the supplier performance and relationships in the interests of the business.

·         To evaluate suppliers' capabilities and select products and materials which are fit for purpose, compliant with the relevant regulations, and compatible with client specification and cost requirements.

·         To continually strive to source the required products and materials in the most cost effective and efficient way for the business and its clients/contractors.

 Key Tasks

·         Evaluate suppliers’ suitability and capability to supply products or materials to the required criteria. Evaluate the supplier’s ethical and environmental credentials against industry standards and guidelines.

·         Select products and materials which are fit for purpose and compatible/compliant with the relevant industry regulations, ensuring that suitable conformance documents and relevant operational and technical/service documentation is provided as required.

·         Liaise with the technical & production teams to ensure to ensure satisfactory product performance (coordinate sign-off for new products when necessary).

·         Negotiate product prices, delivery terms, payment terms, lead times, and trading agreements and/or service level agreements with suppliers, as required, for all goods and services.

·         Develop suitable reporting and analysis tools to monitor usage and spend against forecasts and cost savings against budgets or existing price structures.

·         Responsible for all aspects of supplier relationships including the monitoring and management of supplier performance in respect of service level agreements, lead time adherence, product quality and specification adherence, initiating corrective actions as required.

·         Agree all logistical fulfilment arrangements with suppliers with the objective of achieving the most efficient supply process whilst minimising financial exposure and stock liability risk to the business.

·         Work with sales, design and estimating teams to determine product requirements, target prices, volume requirements for future projects/tenders and provide product suggestions and options.

·         Coordinate with other group companies to leverage prices, service and terms etc. as appropriate.

·         Coordinate with and support the Purchasing Manager in any & all areas of crossover between procurement & purchasing.

·         When required provide holiday cover to the Purchasing Manager.

·         Attend weekly purchasing meetings to discuss/highlight relevant procurement issues.

·         As and when required provide associate directors & directors with updates/reports on procurement.

·         Resolve issues with faulty or substandard products and their suppliers when necessary.

 Key Skills

·         IT literate, good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel etc.

·         Knowledge and experience of purchasing consumer goods.

·         Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies within a manufacturing environment.

·         Ability to present ideas and alternatives at senior level within the business and lead change initiatives when required.
