A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented and highly motivated qualified accountant to join a highly diverse organisation in Bridgwater as their new Financial Controller.

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation and upkeep of internal control policies and procedures. You will need to be technically strong as well as bringing a mindset that allows you to think outside the box.

Based in stunning offices easily accessible from Junction 23 of the M5 our client is open to applications from candidates seeking both full-time and part-time opportunities, with a strong preference for those who have operated across a number of different industry sectors. In return our client is offering a competitive salary of c.£40,000 FTE combined with an exceptional benefits package.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:
·         Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
·         Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
·         Prepare quarterly VAT returns
·         Support month-end and year-end close process
·         Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
·         Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
·         Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants for the year-end accounts
·         Ensure the Directors are kept abreast of the financial position of the business and highlighting key areas of opportunity or concern
·         Manage payments to staff, suppliers and all statutory payments
·         Coordinate payroll information for the submission to payroll bureau
·         Administer updates to the company pension scheme
·         Manage the company pension salary sacrifice arrangements
·         Coordinate with the life assurance and private health insurance providers in relation to updates and annual renewals
·         Complete the financial compliance checks on grant claim paperwork submitted by clients

This role requires a leader who can motivate and inspire, who is not desk bound but willing to interact in meetings, projects and other activities essential to understanding the business. You will be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and possess a thorough knowledge of accounting principals and procedures.
