 Project Engineer

The Project Engineer shall provide technical support and leadership for a myriad of efforts, including CAD drafting, documentation, support of audio-visual, videoconference, digital media and related network systems.  The Project Engineer will be wholly responsible for all technical aspects of an assigned project, including but not limited to the technical, physical, ergonomic, acoustics as well as the structural safety of a system.  

This position reports directly to the Director of Operations, who will provide day to day management and support on career development and escalation issues. 
Depth of Knowledge Required:
This position regularly works in a team of individuals with varying degrees of expertise and influences internal and external customers to achieve a mutually desirable outcome.  This position will trouble shoot issues, make recommendations to internal parties and customers regarding concerns or issues, and ensure resolution of any problems working closely in conjunction with assigned team.  This position must regularly communicate answers to complex questions and respond to detailed inquiries about technical issues and how to resolve these issues.  This position handles and is expected to protect all internal and external confidential information and must utilise discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures.        

 

·       Work directly with clients, architects, consultants and Yorktel staff throughout the design development and delivery process with the support of the Lead Project Engineer. 

·       Develop system design drawings including, but not limited to audio-visual system diagrams and schematic drawings; architectural diagrams, drawings and sketches; Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications; and operational capabilities narratives, etc. 

·       Offer technical support and guidance through the duration of the project for other team members, including those in Programming, Fabrication, Field Engineering or Commissioning Engineering. 

·       Work effectively and efficiently with support from other members of the Engineering team, and also be able to support other members of the Engineering team. 

·       Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records. 

·       Follow Yorktel procedures for archival of project documentation. 

·       Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors. 

·       Attend industry training as required. 

·       Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects. 

·       Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget. 

·       Conform to company technical standards and practices. 

·       Report to Operations Ditrector,EMEA and Engineering Leadership Team. 

·       Other duties as assigned. 

·       Maintain ongoing knowledge of Yorktel processes and procedures as well as individual customer process’ and procedures. 

·       Participate in transition activities to permit effective information transfer from pre-sales to implementation teams. 

·       Create test plans for testing solutions installed at customer sites. 

·       Analyse customer networks to discern visual communications requirements. 

·       Research technical issues involving the network and visual communications equipment. 

·       Provide support for ad hoc and one-of-a-kind projects. 

·       Work with manufacturers and vendors on current and future technologies and products to be able to select applicable technologies and products to present to clients. 

·       AV industry manufacturer certifications desirable. 

·       InfoComm CTS certification with Advanced CTS-D certification desirable. 

·       Willingness to pursue and attend additional training related to performance of job. 

·       Proficiency in video network infrastructure commissioning and support processes. 

·       Knowledge of video and audio-conferencing service standards. 

·       Demonstrated and proficiency in the use of AutoCAD. 

·       Knowledge of audio-visual, videoconferencing and IT products and applications. 

                                  
Required Skills/Abilities
·       Extensive knowledge and experience with industry venders such as Extron, Crestron, Bi Amp, ClearOne etc

·       InfoComm CTS certification with Advanced CTS-D certification desirable

·       Willingness to pursue and attend additional training related to performance of job.

·       Proficient in the use of computers and MS Suite (Outlook, Project, Excel and Word)

·       Proficiency in video network infrastructure commissioning and support processes

·       Knowledge of video and audio-conferencing service standards

·       Demonstrated proficiency in the use of AutoCAD or Visio, or similar proficiency in the use of other diagrammatic software tools.

·       Knowledge of audio-visual, videoconferencing and IT products and applications

·       May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)

·       Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking.

 
Education and Experience
·       1-3 years’ experience in a customer service area. 

·       Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in a technical subject is desirable. 

·       Bi-Lingual capability is a plus. 

·       Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must. 

·       At least three years’ related experience required.  

·       Audio/Visual industry related technical certifications. 

·       Experience with collaboration technologies such as Teams, Zoom and WebEx. 

·       Extensive use of business computer systems including Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Project.

·       Valid passport; International travel possible

·       Valid U.K. driver’s license

·        Must be willing to apply for security clearances and other related clearances to be able to work at certain customer locations.
