Editor
Surrey | Permanent, full-time| £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Editor - permanent - Working within the office based in Farnborough you will come from and editorial background and be looking to join a forward thinking organisation to really make your mark.
Reporting to the company directors, key responsibilities will include:
Tasks for Editor:
• Overseeing the layout, appearance and content of articles and news
across print and digital media channels for a leading aviation B2B title.
• Planning the editorial schedule, writing, editing and commissioning copy
for freelance writers.
• Building and maintaining contacts via a CRM system.
• Researching magazine cover images and gathering information for
articles via contacts, press releases and other media.
• Reporting from press conferences and industry related events, some of
which are located internationally.
• Working closely with the design and production teams to ensure that the
production process runs smoothly.
• Recording interviews and meetings using shorthand or technical
equipment.
• Producing concise and accurate copy according to the Company's
house style and to strict deadlines.
• Creating news and video content for the Company’s digital channels.
• Generating ideas for features with the editorial and advertising teams.
• Proofreading all editorial pages before going to press.
• Raising the profile by being the ‘face’ of the media title at industry
events.
• Working closely with the advertising sales team to help grow the title’s
portfolio via new and existing revenue streams.
• Moderating sessions on behalf of the title at company or third-party
conferences.
Skills:
• An extensive background in B2B publishing preferred.
• An editor working in aviation or a similar sector is an advantage, but the
role could also appeal to someone who is looking for the next step in
their editorial career.
• Ability to solve problems, seize opportunities and build effective
processes.
• Excellent proof-reading skills.
• A track record of hitting deadlines and successful innovation in print and
digital media.
• The ability to understand and represent readers by demonstrating
quality, accurate writing and editing, effective communication,
relationship building, and product improvement.
• Good commercial skills and a clear understanding of how to profitably
grow commercial value.
• The ability to work independently.
• Working within an international environment requires a strong cultural
