Entry Qualifications: 5 GCSE's including Maths and English GCSEs A*-C/9-4. 

Training starts with working as a CAD operator (computer aided design) using the very latest CAD software programs. The apprentice will be working closely with and providing technical support to our engineers in carrying out design work according to the client specification for projects across a variety of sectors.

Duties may include: - preparation of simple calculations, general sizing calculations, production of manual and CAD drawings, site visits and surveys, contributing to providing solutions to design problems, ensuring designs meet required standards following our Integrated Management System, supporting the administration of projects. The role will also include general office duties. A mentor will be assigned within the team who will work and liaise closely with the apprentice in the day-to-day work.

The apprentice will also be dealing with issues such as the environment, sustainability and acoustics and will ultimately work in either a mechanical or electrical discipline, although the training course will involve both disciplines.

As experience and training progresses more responsibility is given to the apprentice and they will have opportunities to attend sites for surveys and meetings with experienced engineers. When the apprentice has reached a certain level approximately 70% of time will be spent in the office and 30% either at meetings with Architects or other members of the Design team on site.
