Commercial Manager / QS - Commercial Flooring

Carpet Roles UK are delighted to be working with a leading Flooring Contractor based in Manchester but who operate throughout the wider UK in their search for a Quantity Surveyor to oversee the Commercial side of their business and to help manage their projects from “Cradle to Grave”.

Based in Manchester (with offices in London and Leeds) our clients are specialist Flooring Contractors who work on a wide variety of projects on behalf of their clients (Main Contractors, Architects and Designers and direct Corporate clients). Main areas of Activity are office Fit Outs, Schools and Colleges and NHS.

The company are seeking an experienced QS from within a Flooring Contractor or similar background. 

In a nutshell you will be working in close conjunction with your clients QS team dealing with pricing, attending pre-start and then running the projects commercial elements from start to finish agreeing the final account with the customer before invoicing and payment etc

Key Responsibilities:

• Read the contract, specifically valuation dates and how and who can authorise variations.
• Issue Commencement and Completion notice to Main Contractors.
• Ensure all variations to program are documented and all correspondence is up to date.
• Ensure Monthly Valuation / Applications are sent on time and copied to Credit Controller.
• Manage cashflow / payment notices and advise Commercial Director of any delays.
• Agree final accounts with Commercial Director before submitting to client.
• Deal with contractual problems punctually
• Manage variations / instructions on a monthly basis ensuring no problems or monies are rolled over
• Monitor and report all anomaly costs and adverse revenues to the Commercial Director
• Manage sales & projections and agree with the Commercial Director

The Right Person:

• You will be qualified to HNC level as a minimum in a construction related discipline and will have worked within a Flooring or Fit out environment in a QS or Commercial Manager / Project Manager role.

• Trained Quantity Surveyor
• Ability to multi-task
• Negotiation skills
• CSCS qualified
• Understanding of Construction law.
• Health and Safety
• Microsoft Excel

You will work closely with the Directors (2) of the Regional office as well as with 2 Project Managers,2 Estimators, and Office Manager and…a Dog! the team is friendly, small and professional so it will be important that you can join this happy few.

Salary:

• Negotiable based on Experience.
