Quantity Surveyor - Contract Floors - Bedfordshire
Milton Keynes | Permanent, full-time| £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (Attractive Negotiable Package )
Carpet Roles UK are delighted to be assisting their clients, a leading Commercial Flooring Contractor based in Bedfordshire in their search for a Quantity Surveyor to assist with the management of their Projects.

Our Client is the UK’s leading contract flooring company with an unrivalled reputation for product quality, specialist knowledge, uncompromising client service and the ability to meet demanding project timescales.
With several offices around the UK, their projects include national retail chains, airports, corporate offices, government buildings, healthcare environments, educational establishments, residential developments and public buildings.
They are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to assist with their continued growth and success.
Job Description: (Clients)
Senior QS – Projects
1.Work alongside the Procurement Department, offering constant support and guidance.
2.Liaise with Procurement team to price any additional works deriving from the issue of Contract Issue Drawings and Finishes.
3.Price any variations or extra works once contract works have begun, liasing with Contract Managers concerning labour allowances to be made
4.Attend site with Contracts Managers to assess variations or cost associated matters, meet builder's Quantity Surveyor etc.
5.Produce adds and omits schedule for Lump Sum Projects.
6.Compile Interim Valuations, Draft and Final Accounts.
7.To provide a monthly cost value reconciliation for each project to establish current profitability and to actively monitor project costs.
8.Report overspends incurred to the Group FD
9.Provide information and/or supportive evidence to commercial queries raised by contractor/client
10.Report any costing discrepancies not already reported by the Procurement Department i.e. Labour allowances, sundry purchases etc
11.Compile any contractual correspondence required on a job by job basis.
12.Attend final account meetings.
13.Agree Accounts to achieve the best possible profit margin whilst maintaining a good customer relationship.
14.Attend a Debtors Meeting once a month to discuss any outstanding monies causing concern and a course of action to resolve.
15.Work closely with the Accounts Department to offer assistance in chasing outstanding monies on agreed accounts.
16.Price and invoice supply only projects when required
17.Check Subcontract Docs for onerous terms and conditions.
18.Update Valuation Schedule to prompt the update and issue of Applications and Invoices by their required dates and note the value applied for each month.
19.Compile Financial Report regularly to show current financial state of play of all completed projects
20.Assist Financial Director with monthly Profit Taking.
21.Provide commercial support and training to any member of staff when required.
22.Overall responsibility for all commercial aspects of the department including cash flow maximisation, debtor mitigation, proactive cost control, profits maximisation etc.
23.Support the Operations Director in "day to day" running of department, deputising for him when required.
24.Effectively manage and motivate the procurement department.
25.Become instrumental in motivating all of the operational team.
26.Ensure standards are set and maintained by all team members.
27.Be proactively involved in the "day to day" trouble shooting on contracts.
28.Develop and maintain crucial relationships with Clients at site and HQ level.
29.Mentor junior members of the team including development of training programmes where required.
30.Update forward work programme on a weekly basis.
31.Submit monthly commercial report for board meeting. Content to be agreed.
32.Continually strive to reduce costs within procurement department.
33.Continue to instigate a culture of challenging costs and maximising profit opportunities.
34.Support the sales and estimating teams in terms of advice on contract terms, quantification strategy and rate formulation where appropriate.
35.Provide feedback to sales team of potential leads and future work opportunities generated from relationships created on site.
36.Reconcile labour pend to progress on site.
Our Clients are effectively seeking someone who can carry out the broad functions of a Quantity Surveyor, ideally from within a Commercial Flooring / Interiors / Fit Out environment and who can confidently as a senior QS manage the various teams that feed into and report to their department.
