Senior Estimator - Commercial Flooring Contractors

Carpet Roles UK are assisting one of the UK’s largest Independent Flooring Contractors in their search for high Calibre Managers Operational staff to continue their growth plans into the future. In this instance we are seeking a, Senior Commercial Flooring Estimator.

The Role: 

We are seeking a High Calibre, Senior Commercial Flooring Estimator for this position, briefly the role will involve: 

• Responsibility for Key Account Management, Business Development, be results driven and have proven year on year success and have the ability to drive and motivate and lead a small team to success.  
• Formulating quotations, liaising with suppliers and negotiating discounts to enable our client’s quotations to be priced as competitively as possible.
• Organise and prioritise quotations as per company requirements, log /record quotations and chase main contractors/clients effectively securing client feedback to build historical data and when necessary, establish reasons for not winning jobs and re-quote and reduce prices where possible.
• Build upon relationships with main contractors/clients and win / increase our clients market share.
• Pro-actively increase the Companies profile and exposure.
• Report confidently to senior management weekly on department results achieved.  
• Bottom Line, a Senior Estimator, who can come in and hit the ground running with a track record and experience of working on, pricing and winning multi-million pound tenders.

Our Clients could be open to candidates with a slight different background such as an experienced flooring QS or PM with a flooring background and or past experience in estimating and pricing.

 The perfect candidate:

• Be experienced within the flooring industry – 5 years+, within an estimator, sales, QS role.
• Be a self-starter with an analytical and proactive approach to their work
• Experience of working on luxury residential projects (high rise, multi-accommodation).
• Would be able to breakdown a tender from the start to find all the detail and be able to chase up any further detail as required.
• Understand or have experience of measuring drawings using Callidus (or similar software) to obtain quantities for each floor.
• Be able to put together bills of quantitiess using Excel.
• Be confident to speak to suppliers to obtain pricing.
• Be able to put together a quotation considering the appropriate wastage factors have be allowed for.
• Understand the detail in terms of the installation requirements and have an appreciation of best practice for the product being installed.
• Be able to understand and qualify out any areas within a tender return in order to mitigate out all risk.
• Be able to confidently follow up and discuss tender returns with the client and provide all follow up actions and support as required.
• Would be experienced in broadloom, timber, vinyl and subfloor preparation. Any experience in raised acoustic flooring, underfloor heating, screeding or ceramic tiling would be advantageous.
• Ideally live within an hour commute from North East London / Essex Area.    

The Rewards: 

The salary would be commensurate with experience and fulfilment of the above requirements, but would expect it to be market leading for a market leading candidate. Salary plus Bonuses plus expenses typically.
