Are you a creative and commercially minded Womenswear Designer looking to join a growing business where your ideas can make a real impact?
Our client is a highly respected East London based womenswear manufacturer and supplier, partnering with a portfolio of leading UK and international fashion retailers. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a talented Designer to their close-knit design team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful business of around 40 employees, working within a collaborative design team of four, where you'll have genuine involvement across the entire design and development process.
The Role
Working across womenswear woven, jersey softs separates and tailoring, you will take ownership of product development from initial concept through to final garment, creating commercially relevant collections for key retail customers.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing womenswear collections across woven, jersey softs and tailoring categories.
Developing seasonal concepts, mood boards, trend presentations and range builds.
Researching trends, colours, fabrics and silhouettes to create commercially relevant product.
Leading design meetings and presenting concepts to internal teams and customers.
Producing detailed sketch packs, specification sheets and technical packs.
Creating print designs and embroidery placement artwork where required.
Managing range plans and seasonal collection development.
Sourcing fabrics, trims and new product ideas for each season.
Working closely with Pattern Cutters, Garment Technicians, Machinists and the Sample Room throughout the development process.
Attending fit sessions, fabric meetings and buying meetings.
Refining fit and silhouette to ensure products meet customer expectations and brand requirements.
Supporting production handovers with manufacturing partners in Morocco, Vietnam, Bulgaria and Sri Lanka.
About You
We're looking for a passionate and commercially focused designer who enjoys working in a fast-paced supplier environment and thrives on seeing products come to life.
You'll have:
Recent experience designing womenswear woven and jersey product, with exposure to tailoring advantageous.
Previous experience within a fashion supplier, manufacturer or successful high street retailer.
Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Excellent hand sketching and illustration abilities.
Experience creating technical packs and specification sheets.
Strong trend awareness and commercial product understanding.
Experience presenting concepts and leading design discussions.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
London based ( or commutable ) and eligible to work in the UK
