Job Overview:
A busy family based in Athens is seeking a professional and experienced Rota Nanny to care for their five children: three girls aged 11.5, 10 and 2, a boy aged 6, and a baby due in January 2027. A maternity nurse will be employed to care for the baby for the first 6–12 months.

This is a long-term position offering a mixture of shared care when the parents are present and responsibility for managing the children’s day-to-day routines during each rota period. The parents are actively involved in their children’s lives, and the nanny must be confident working collaboratively with them.

The successful candidate will work opposite another rota nanny within a fully staffed household. Excellent organisation, initiative and communication are essential. The nanny must be able to plan ahead, manage competing priorities and take ownership of the children’s routines and practical needs without requiring day-to-day direction.

International travel is an essential part of the role, as the family regularly travel to the UK, the US and other holiday destinations. The family have one dog in Athens. Accommodation consisting of a private bedroom and bathroom will be provided during working shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Providing attentive, age-appropriate care for children across a wide range of ages.
• Managing the children’s daily routines and practical needs throughout each rota period.
• Planning engaging, age- and stage-appropriate activities that support the children’s learning and development.
• Establishing clear, consistent and age-appropriate boundaries.
• Preparing some meals for the children.
• Managing the children’s laundry.
• Keeping the children’s bedrooms, playrooms, and other areas tidy and organised.
• Planning ahead and managing the children’s wardrobes, packing and travel requirements.
• Organising travel logistics relating to the children.
• Working collaboratively with the parents, opposite rota nanny and wider household staff.
• Communicating clearly and providing appropriate updates to the parents and household team.
• Resolving day-to-day issues independently and escalating matters that require parental input.
• Maintaining continuity of care between rota periods through effective communication and handovers.

Ideal Nanny:

• Previous experience working as a rota nanny and within a fully staffed private household.
• Strong experience caring for multiple children across a wide range of ages and supporting children’s learning and development through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive, self-motivated and confident using their own initiative.
• Able to anticipate what needs to be done and work effectively without requiring regular direction or reminders.
• Confident making sound decisions and resolving practical issues independently.
• Able to relate well to children of different ages and establish clear boundaries without being overly strict.
• Warm, bubbly, confident and professional.
• Flexible and hands-on, with sound judgement, common sense and a genuine team-player approach.
• A confident driver is preferable.
