Embedded Software / Hardware Engineer
You will work across new product development, product upgrades, PCB design, embedded programming, prototyping and testing, working closely with experienced engineers across the business. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on, multi-skilled engineering environment and wants to see projects develop from concept through to production.

- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm
- Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
You will work across new product development, product upgrades, PCB design, embedded programming, prototyping and testing, working closely with experienced engineers across the business. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on, multi-skilled engineering environment and wants to see projects develop from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software using C/C++ for 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers, including PIC32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico and ATMega.
- Port and adapt legacy microcontroller code to modern platforms where required.
- Design analogue and digital electronics, including processor interfaces, I/O, peripherals, interrupts and power requirements.
- Select components and carry out simulation, analysis and design validation.
- Design and develop PCBs using Altium or KiCad, from schematic through to layout.
- Prototype, assemble, solder, debug and test electronic circuits and PCBs, including SMD components.
- Develop and upgrade existing products, working closely with Senior Engineers, Management and Field Engineers.
- Develop test equipment and production test rigs to support manufacturing.
- Ensure designs meet required quality, cost and project timescales.
- Produce technical documentation covering design specifications, test results and project progress.
- 5+ years' experience in a similar Embedded Software / Hardware Engineering role.
- BSc/BEng in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong C/C++ embedded software development experience.
- Experience with PIC32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico and/or ATMega microcontrollers.
- Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics and component-level fault finding.
- PCB design experience using Altium or KiCad.
- Knowledge of CAN, I2C, SPI, RS485 and BLE communication protocols.
- Practical PCB assembly and SMD hand-soldering skills.
- Confident using electronic test equipment and troubleshooting hardware/software.
- Good IT/ICT skills; relevant CLE/CESE certification would be advantageous.
