Key Responsibilities
- Support ongoing process improvement initiatives in collaboration with production and engineering teams.
- Conduct lab-based trials to evaluate proposed changes before full-scale implementation.
- Assist in analysing production data and contributing to troubleshooting when performance issues arise.
- Help scale up new products from lab or pilot plant to full manufacturing levels.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and support process safety standards.
- Receive mentoring and exposure to key areas including process safety, quality control, and customer technical support.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field (BSc or equivalent).
- Passion for applied chemistry and interest in chemical manufacturing or industrial process development.
- Solid understanding of chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
- Analytical thinker with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with chemical drawing software.
- Eligibility to work on a COMAH-regulated site and pass relevant background checks.
Desirable (but not essential):
- A Master’s qualification (MSc, MChem) in Chemistry or a related field.
- Previous industrial placement or internship in a manufacturing or R&D setting.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or BRITEST.
- Awareness of safety and regulatory standards (e.g., COSHH, REACH).
- Interest in working towards Chartered Chemist status.
