Key Responsibilities
  • Support ongoing process improvement initiatives in collaboration with production and engineering teams.
  • Conduct lab-based trials to evaluate proposed changes before full-scale implementation.
  • Assist in analysing production data and contributing to troubleshooting when performance issues arise.
  • Help scale up new products from lab or pilot plant to full manufacturing levels.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and support process safety standards.
  • Receive mentoring and exposure to key areas including process safety, quality control, and customer technical support.

What We’re Looking For
  • A degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field (BSc or equivalent).
  • Passion for applied chemistry and interest in chemical manufacturing or industrial process development.
  • Solid understanding of chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
  • Analytical thinker with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with chemical drawing software.
  • Eligibility to work on a COMAH-regulated site and pass relevant background checks.

Desirable (but not essential):
  • A Master’s qualification (MSc, MChem) in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Previous industrial placement or internship in a manufacturing or R&D setting.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or BRITEST.
  • Awareness of safety and regulatory standards (e.g., COSHH, REACH).
  • Interest in working towards Chartered Chemist status.
