The Trainee Buyer will support the purchasing team in sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of products and materials needed by the organisation. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn and develop within the procurement department, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and handling various administrative duties.

The Trainee Buyer will support the purchasing team in sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of products and materials needed by the organisation. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn and develop within the procurement department, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and handling various administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service by responding to procurement queries via phone and email.
- Assist the Commercial team with obtaining quotes and lead times for tenders.
- Enter delivery notes into internal systems and maintain accurate order books.
- Ensure timely processing and sign-off of purchase invoices.
- Resolve any purchase order or invoice queries efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain the Procurement email inbox, ensuring timely responses to all queries.
- Accurately input documentation from work sites, including delivery tickets and receipts.
- Assist with preparing and distributing reports to management teams.
- Support month-end reporting and preparation for meetings.
- Contribute to pricing tenders for new works and support other procurement tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Training:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
- GCSE’s (Grade 4-9) or equivalent.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Self-motivated, results-driven with a proactive attitude.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including a professional telephone manner.
- Excellent organisational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferably, some knowledge of the Civil Engineering and Utility sectors.
