We are seeking a skilled and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our clients Commercial Team. You will play a key role in managing project finances, ensuring cost efficiencies, and overseeing commercial and contractual matters. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial success of our projects while building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Senior Commercial/Operations Managers and National Grid.
- Assist in financial reporting for contracts, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports and payment applications.
- Manage sub-contractor approvals, payments, and record-keeping.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting and monitor project progress.
- Conduct cost/value reconciliations (CVRs) and track project variations.
- Attend management meetings with clients to manage balances and improve cash flow.
- Address payment discrepancies and outstanding balances.
- Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Issue early warnings/claims/compensation events and negotiate settlements.
- Provide alternative solutions and value engineering advice.
- Advise on legal matters arising during the project.
- Support the commercial team with data entry and document management.
- Complete mandatory training and keep up to date with industry legislation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- GCSEs Grade 9-4 or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role within the civil engineering sector.
- Strong numerical, financial management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with clients and directors.
- Confident with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Self-driven with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
