Responsibilities
- Verify rates bills issued by billing authorities.
- Manage rates-related email inboxes and correspondence.
- Provide lease agreements to billing authorities for occupied properties and mitigate rates on vacant properties using available methods.
- Manage and monitor business rates for vacant properties.
- Maintain and update rates spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records for all properties.
- Address and resolve rates queries and disputes with billing authorities.
- Work closely with asset, property, and valuations managers to align business rates strategy and operations.
- Perform other duties to ensure the smooth running of the rates department.
- Receive training in areas where required.
Skills and Experience
- Ideally 1-2 years’ experience in business rates administration.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Professional phone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication skills.
