Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative on behalf of one of our clients.
You will be responsible for the installation of temporary traffic management. You will carry out all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine & cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils works, litter picking and winter & emergency call outs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain high technical standards.
- Attend project and work briefings as required.
- To drive/operate vehicles or plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance and cleaning.
- All aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities.
- Winter maintenance operations.
- Emergency call out operations.
- Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others to ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public.
- Carrying out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books.
- Recording of driver’s hours.
- Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with online system.
- To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees, sub-contractors, the emergency services, police, general public, clients and customers.
- Self-motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions.
- Good communication skills.
- HGV Class 2 Licence (Essential).
- Appropriate qualification relevant to the role.
- 12D RTM Operative (Mod T1/T2). (Desirable)
- Abrasive wheels.
- Banksman Slinger.
- CAT Scanner (Highways).
- Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE).
- Environmental Awareness Tool Box Talk.
- Personal Highways Safety.
- Manual Handling.
