Overview:
First Military are currently seeking an Electrical & Mechanical Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-established and highly respected engineering business with over 100 years of industry expertise. Working within workshop and on customer sites, you'll be responsible for the overhaul, repair, servicing, testing, and installation of a wide range of industrial rotating equipment.

Our client is specifically looking to recruit former ex forcers engineers who can bring their technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and strong work ethic into a growing engineering team. This role would particularly suit candidates from REME, Royal Engineers, Royal Navy Marine Engineering, RAF Engineering, or other military engineering backgrounds who are looking to continue developing their career within a varied and rewarding civilian engineering environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strip, inspect, and evaluate pumps, electric motors, gearboxes, fan units, and other rotating equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and work alongside the Workshop Co-Ordinator to identify repair requirements and source replacement parts.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical overhauls, repairs, rewinds, servicing, and refurbishment work.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it meets operational and quality standards before returning to customers.
  • Attend customer sites to remove, install, repair, service, and commission equipment.
  • Carry out bearing replacements, laser alignment, fault finding, and general maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all equipment is fully operational and tested prior to leaving customer sites.
  • Participate in the engineering on-call rota to support emergency breakdowns and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in both the workshop and on-site.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while representing the business professionally at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as an Electrical & Mechanical Engineer.
  • Strong fault-finding, repair, and maintenance skills.
  • Experience working on rotating equipment such as electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, generators, or similar industrial machinery would be advantageous.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit engineering team.
  • Methodical, organised, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Former Armed Forces Engineers are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those from REME, Royal Engineers, Royal Navy, RAF, or similar technical military trades.
