Salary: Circa £100,000 + Benefits

Overview:

First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager on behalf of one of our rapidly expanding clients.

The role is to take responsibility for the commercial function across both Civils and Rail Projects in order to plan and agree the companies commercial strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To deliver the commercial promise in line with the agreed forecasts.
  • To verify, collate and present the sector results.
  • To lead the resolution of upstream and downstream commercial challenges.
  • To maintain professional and legal standards and protect the company’s position throughout 360-degree relationships.
  • To develop and coach the commercial family.
  • To review for compliance all contracts entered by the sector (up and down stream contracts).
  • Prepare a comprehensive commercial management plan and where appropriate a recovery plan.
  • Ensure that applications are submitted and secured to maximise cash income.
  • Monitor and where required approve subcontractor payments to ensure accuracy and compliance with terms.
  • Oversee the production of accurate and timely forecasts and monthly reports to demonstrate contract performance (SIE (CVR) reporting).
  • Monitor communications to ensure that timely and effective replies are sent.
  • Systematically review and validate contracts and key commercial correspondence with Clients and the Supply Chain.
  • Ensure that local teams and individual commercial staff have balanced workload.
  • Mentor and develop subordinate staff.
  • Manage commercial and contractual issues with Clients and the Supply Chain.
  • Liaise with Commercial Director and legal on contractual matters.
  • Attend meetings with Clients (Employers) Representatives on behalf of Company.
  • Effectively chair meetings with Clients or the Supply Chain.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Skilled and experienced at leading a team in delivering Civil Engineering and Rail Sector construction contracts.
  • Educated to degree level by qualification or experience with RICS or equivalent qualification.
  • Experienced in control of a Commercial team.
  • Safety management.
  • Up to date understanding of legal and contractual matters.
  • Civil Engineering Construction, NEC Contracts and ICE Contracts, Accountancy principles and general administration.
  • Strategic Management Skills, Commercial Acumen, Common Sense and Mentoring Skills.
  • Experience of managing a commercial team on similar scale infrastructure projects
Desirable:
  • Specific ICE/NR experience.
  • NEC3/4 experience.
  • Professional Status (RICS or equivalent).
  • Supply chain procurement.
  • Construction in the rail environment.
  • Understanding of HR management.
