LB235 - Truck / Trailer Mechanic

Location: Takeley, Essex

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Truck / Trailer Mechanic on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To perform vehicle maintenance or trouble shoot defects and carry out repairs as necessary.
  • To perform servicing and MOT preparation.
  • Carry out occasional breakdowns using company service vans.
  • Strong experience that has both breadth and depth of knowledge of trucks, trailers, engines, gearboxes, axles, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnosis and be able to use diagnostic equipment.
  • Produce details of job on a job card, service sheet and daily time log.
  • Communicate with supervisory staff regularly to keep them updated on the progress of your job.
  • Be aware and responsible for Health & Safety of yourself and other employees.
  • Shift pattern: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm.
  • With the nature of the work involved, sound training and support will be given.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Have both a good knowledge of heavy motor vehicles and, preferably, will hold at least a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
  • You will be part of a small but enthusiastic, friendly, and growing team of mechanics with a focus offering excellent customer service.
  • The ideal candidate will be great at solving problems with good verbal and written communication and a genuine pride in the work you do.
  • This person will need to have a high level of initiative and use their knowledge to solve problems that you have never seen before, and at times, working in environments that you have never been in before.  
  • Welding experience preferred but not essential. 
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • CE LGV Licence preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of crane operations preferred but not essential.
