2nd-Line Support Engineer

Chapman Tate are working with an established organisation based in South Birmingham who due to growth are now looking for 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer to be based in their offices. The successful candidate will provide Technical support to external customers and Internal staff, assisting them with hardware and software problems via phone, email or onsite.

In this position you will be required to have a full clean driving license and have access to your own vehicle as you will be required to travel to client site.  

Working with the following technologies will form part of the role:
  • Active Directory, Windows Server 2008 - 2016, Microsoft Exchange 2010 - 2016
  • Virtualisation technology Experience - Hyper-V / VMWare
  • Windows Desktop Operation Systems from XP to Windows 10
  • Hardware Firewall Technologies and Configuration (ideally WatchGuard or Cisco)
  • Ability to configure and setup DHCP/DNS/TCPIP/GPO

Your duties as a 2nd Line Engineer will be to:
  • You will provide technical support combined to the clients onsite and remotely
  • You will be the point of contact for technical escalation for support cases
  • Ensuring all SLA’s are met when responding and resolving service tickets
  • Taking ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Maintaining a log of any software or hardware problems detected
  • Ensuring alert tickets are dealt with and escalated to the correct support engineer
  • Being responsible for installations and maintenance of network infrastructures, cloud technologies, workstations, servers, data security, daily administration tasks, regular site consultancy pro-active support visits and end user support
